Our Fibres
Pairs socks are crafted using only the finest natural fibres. To help you find the right fibre we've put together a comprehensive guide to our socks and how to care for them.

Alpaca
Alpaca fibres are known for their warmth, softness, and breathability. The fibre has a hollow core, which helps trap heat while keeping the material lightweight. It’s naturally insulating without being bulky and allows moisture to escape, helping keep feet dry. Alpaca is also hypoallergenic, as it contains no lanolin, making it suitable for sensitive skin. It’s durable, resists pilling, and holds its shape well over time.
Sourcing
Our Alpaca wool is sustainably sourced from the Peruvian Highlands. We knit and hand-finish our socks at a traditional British mill.

Ultra Soft Alpaca
Ultra Soft alpaca is a finer, more delicate grade of alpaca fibre, offering a smoother and silkier feel. It maintains the thermal and moisture-regulating benefits of regular alpaca but with added comfort against the skin. Its ultra-fine texture reduces friction, making it ideal for everyday wear. Despite its softness, it remains strong and naturally elastic, helping socks retain their shape with minimal irritation.

Merino

Bamboo
Bamboo threads are spun and woven to make a silky soft yarn for our bamboo socks. As well as being comfortable, this fibre offers naturally antimicrobial properties and excellent temperature regulation, helping to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. Bamboo socks are generally durable and resistant to wear and tear, making them a long-lasting option.

Mohair
Made from the silky-soft fleece of Angora goats, mohair is renowned for its strength, warmth, and breathability—keeping your feet cosy in winter and cool in summer. Unlike traditional wool, mohair is naturally antibacterial and moisture-wicking, ensuring your socks stay fresh and dry throughout the day.

Wool
Wool is a natural insulator, providing warmth while remaining breathable. The crimped structure of the fibres traps air, creating a cushion that helps regulate temperature in both warm and cold conditions. Wool is naturally elastic, giving socks stretch and resilience, and offers a soft but slightly textured feel depending on the fibre grade.
